Water jar delivery software for Indore plant owners and distributors

Indore is Madhya Pradesh’s largest city and its commercial capital, with about 21 lakh people in the city limits (Census 2011). Dense colonies, apartment blocks, coaching hostels and offices make it one of the busiest jar-delivery markets in the state.

What running a jar business in Indore looks like

Supply comes from far away

Reports describe Indore’s supply as mostly Narmada water lifted over 80 km, with Yashwant Sagar and groundwater adding to it, against demand above 450 MLD. In summer the city has been reported to rely on many more water tankers than in other seasons.

Safe water is a live local issue

After a drinking-water contamination incident in Bhagirathpura at the end of December 2025, residents and neighbouring cities pay far closer attention to the safety of what they drink. For a jar supplier that makes clean, traceable supply and good records more important than before.

Many connections are still missing

Local reporting has described a large share of the population without a functional Narmada connection and many municipal borewells running dry. Those households and shops turn to packaged water.

Who orders jars in Indore

Indore is the biggest jar market in Madhya Pradesh, with about 21.7 lakh people in the city (Census 2011). A supplier’s list here tends to carry more variety than in smaller cities, and the mix decides how you plan a day.

  • Apartment blocks and gated societies. Many jars to one address, often delivered to a security desk or a lift lobby. Empties collect in stairwells and get mixed with another supplier’s jars.
  • Households in older colonies. One or two jars, collected by the same driver week after week.
  • Offices and coaching or training centres. Daily jars, strict delivery windows before opening hours, and a billing contact who is not the person receiving the jar.
  • Hostels and PGs, where one contact orders for many residents and the count changes with admissions.
  • Shops and eateries. Small daily orders, often paid in cash at the door.

Competing suppliers already work these same areas. Reports on competitor sites name Vijay Nagar, Palasia, AB Road, Rau and Sudama Nagar as covered areas (2026), so expect a customer to have several choices and to switch if a delivery is late or an invoice is wrong. In a contested market your reliability is the product.

Water supply, as reported

Reports describe Indore’s supply as about 406 MLD of Narmada water from three phases, around 30 MLD from Yashwant Sagar and around 20 MLD from groundwater, against a demand reported above 450 MLD, with water lifted over 80 km (as reported by Free Press Journal, undated). A fourth phase is reported to be planned to reach 900 MLD by 2027. A Land Conflict Watch report (year not confirmed) describes about 30 percent of the population without a functional Narmada connection and about half of 6,500 government borewells dried up. Treat all of this as background from secondary sources.

In late December 2025 a drinking-water contamination was confirmed in the Bhagirathpura area, linked in reports to sewage entering a pipeline, and many residents were affected (overview). This page does not draw conclusions from it. The practical effect for a supplier is that customers may ask more questions than before about where their water comes from. Keep dated delivery records so you can answer simple questions about which route served an address on which day. Water testing and quality are your responsibility, and you should check current rules with the relevant authority.

Seasonal pressure points

The same report describes more than 300 tankers running in summer against about 100 in other seasons (undated). When tankers carry the load, apartment blocks and offices that normally use tap water for drinking can start asking for extra jars on short notice. Expect these extras to arrive mid-route.

A few things help in the hot months.

  • Keep a spare allotment of jars at the plant each morning for same-day extras.
  • Ask drivers to note a price change on any extra order, so the office sees what was agreed at the door.

We did not find reliable local data on wedding or festival seasons in Indore, so use your own order history for those.

Planning routes

In dense colonies the distance between stops is small and the time goes into parking, stairs and waiting for a gate. Build routes around a cluster, for example one driver for the Vijay Nagar side and another for the Palasia side, rather than one driver crossing the city. A single large apartment block can fill half a route, so give it its own stop plan and its own empties count.

If Rau or the AB Road side is far from your plant, use fixed delivery days there. Alternate-day or twice-weekly delivery is easier to run than daily.

What to set up in an app

  • Standing orders per customer. Price varies by area and by customer here, so give each standing order its own price, and let the rest fall back to the catalogue rate. Read the guide on standing orders and pricing per customer.
  • Empties at every stop. In apartment blocks, count the empties you collect and compare them with the delivered number. A weekly bottle balance for each block shows drift early. See empty jar tracking.
  • Credit and month-end. Offices and hostels pay monthly. Record every payment on the day it is received, and read the dues report by age so a 40-day balance is a phone call, not a surprise. The dues ageing guide explains the buckets.

Example (made-up round numbers, illustrative only). An apartment block takes 12 jars a day at ₹50 per jar, which is ₹600 a day and about ₹18,000 a month. If a driver is 2 empties short each day without anyone noticing, that is 60 jars a month leaving the system.

How Pyaau helps

Pyaau builds each driver’s stops the night before from customers and standing orders. At each stop the driver sets jars delivered and empties taken back, and one tap on Match sets empties equal to delivered. Short and extra jars show on the stop as -1 or +2. The office sees a close-of-day summary with a bottle balance, and can lock the run. The customer ledger marks balances as Owes you or Credit, and payments are applied to the oldest invoice first. Extra orders and plant pickups can be recorded, with a flag when the price was changed.

Payments are recorded in the app, and the app can run in Hindi. Coming next: WhatsApp billing and a web admin panel.

What Pyaau gives a Indore plant owner

Indore suppliers run many short routes through packed colonies. Pyaau builds each driver’s stops the night before, counts empties on every stop so jars do not disappear into apartment blocks, and shows an ageing report so unpaid accounts surface early. Standing orders keep a different price per customer, which suits a market where rates vary by area.

Credit-first customer ledger

A delivery adds to what the customer owes; money is recorded when it is handed over. Collect payment from the ledger.

Empties, jars held and bottle balance

Empties are counted on every stop, with a running bottle balance for each run and a jar count for every customer. A warning shows when the empties entered are more than they hold.

Short and extra deliveries

Differences show on the stop (−1 / +2) and in a report by customer or route, with the stops behind every row.

Standing orders and extras

Regular, extra on top or temporary orders, each with its own price. Handle “one more jar today” and plant pickups, with a price-changed flag for you.
